Listed below are the plants we expect
to offer for 2007. Here are links to each section: Herbs, native Michigan wildflowers,
native Michigan grasses, and ferns. Note that this list may change due to weather and other factors.
Please contact us if you do not find what you are looking for, and for availability
of specific plants.
Watch this list grow as we grow!
NOTE: At this time we do not ship plants. They are only available from us
locally. We hope you will get a chance to come see us in person, "out on the
farm."
We invite you to participate in our Season
Starter Program. We also offer Gift Certificates.
In addition to their hundreds of culinary, medicinal,
cosmetic, and aromatic uses, know that herb plants are pretty, too! Their ornamental
uses abound, from edging around a garden, between paver stones, to adding just the
right touch to any floral arrangement. Herbs are easy to grow, have leaves of various
sizes and textures, and some offer very unique, interesting, and beautiful flowers.
Some herbs even attract hummingbirds and butterflies. Herbs sure are fun!
NOTE: When working with herbs, it is important
to always go by the Latin names to be sure you are dealing with the proper
plant. There can be much confusion when going only by the common name. Here's a good
Web page explaining this: "Common Plant Names leading you up the
garden path."
For more details about herbs, how to grow them, their
descriptions and uses, see our Links page for sites like Herbal Encyclopedia, Herb Index,
and others listed there. On-site
we have (for sale) some of our favorite and recommended books, as well as (for browsing)
a library of herb and native plants reference material.
Note that sun and soil conditions given in any reference
guide are only a general guideline, your experience may vary based on your microclimate
(local area, backyard, etc.). Don't be afraid to experiment and adjust the
conditions or move the plants if they are not responding well. And read our Tips
page, especially the last one!
